Services

Not sure if you need coaching, therapy or an assessment? That’s where we start.

We take a holistic approach to therapy, blending evidence-based practices in a neuro-affirmative & psychodynamic framework.

We see therapy as a tool for revealing the internal conflicts that hinder personal growth and fulfillment, and for empowering individuals to make meaning of their experiences.

Integrative Therapy

Therapy here focuses on patterns, not just symptoms

Teen

We work with teens navigating patterns that may show up as emotional overwhelm, shutdown, anxiety, or difficulty with motivation and follow-through. Many struggle with feeling misunderstood, masking at school, or trying to keep up socially while feeling internally dysregulated.

Some experience intrusive thoughts, rumination, or intense emotional reactions, while others withdraw, avoid, or feel disconnected from themselves and others. Identity exploration, self-esteem, and peer relationships are often central.

For many teens, these challenges show up most in relationships with parents, friends, or at school through conflict, withdrawal, or difficulty expressing needs.

Our work helps teens understand their emotional and nervous system patterns while building skills for regulation, communication, and self-trust.

Couples

We work with couples navigating patterns that often show up as communication breakdowns, emotional reactivity, shutdown, or ongoing conflict.

Many partners find themselves stuck in repetitive cycles, where one pursues and the other withdraws, or both feel misunderstood despite wanting to connect. Over time, this can lead to distance, resentment, or feeling alone in the relationship.

These patterns are often shaped by differences in emotional needs, attachment styles, neurodivergence, or stress responses, which can make interactions feel intense or difficult to shift.

Our work focuses on helping you understand what is driving these patterns, so communication becomes clearer, reactivity decreases, and connection feels more stable and supportive.

Adult

We work with adults navigating patterns that often show up as rumination or intrusive thoughts, cycles of shut down, hyper-independence or fear of conflict, emotional reactivity, and patterns in dating and attachment, as well as trouble maintaining structure and follow-through, questioning identity, internal and external compulsions, and suicidality, among other symptoms.

Some notice that their struggles show up most in relationships, whether that looks like feeling misunderstood, repeating the same dynamics, struggling to express needs, or becoming either overly responsible for others or completely withdrawn.

"Whatever has the nature of arising has the nature of ceasing.”

Buddha

Clarity. Direction. Support.

Coaching is for when you want clarity, direction, and support but aren’t looking for therapy.

Some come in feeling stuck in patterns that show up as overwhelm, difficulty with follow-through, or navigating relationships and communication. Others are working through burnout, identity shifts, or trying to understand their needs in a way that actually works for them.

Coaching can support emotional regulation, executive functioning, and building routines that align with your nervous system. It can also help you understand your sensory profile, reduce triggers, and create systems that feel sustainable instead of forced.

Many people use coaching to work through unmasking, identity clarity, and boundaries, especially when they’re used to overextending or losing themselves in relationships.

Coaching focuses on insight and action, helping you understand what’s keeping you stuck and build momentum toward change.

Coaching is not therapy and does not include diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions.

Get clarity that makes sense with a psychological assessment

Our assessments go beyond labels.
We look at your full picture: your history, your nervous system, and how you’ve learned to adapt.

You leave with:

A clear understanding of how your mind works

Language to explain your experience

Practical next steps for support

If you’ve been questioning ADHD, autism, OCD, or feel like past diagnoses didn’t fully fit, you’re in the right place.

People seek assessments when:

They’ve been misdiagnosed or overlooked

They suspect ADHD, autism, or OCD but aren’t sure

Therapy hasn’t fully explained what’s going on

They want clarity, not just coping strategies

Our Approach

Holistic

All aspects of our lives affect our mental health. At Awaken Therapy Center, we honor the full complexity of your inner world by integrating expressive arts therapy, narrative therapy, meditation, spirituality, and gentle somatic exercises that bring you back into relationship with your body. For many neurodivergent individuals, reconnecting with bodily signals can feel unfamiliar or overwhelming—our therapists work at your pace, helping you build safety, curiosity, and trust in your internal experience. Every approach is tailored to your individual needs, sensory profile, and rhythm of healing.

Evidence-Based

We combine the strength of established, research-backed therapies with adaptations that work for real neurodivergent brains.

Our therapists utilize:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which supports values-based living even in the presence of difficult emotions

  • Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT), an advanced evidence-based approach for OCD rooted in metacognition and narrative logic

  • Motivational Interviewing, to help build readiness and engagement without pressure

We modify all cognitive and behavioral interventions to respect sensory differences, processing styles, attention patterns, and executive functioning needs. When life requires concreteness and immediacy, these structured tools can help create relief, clarity, and momentum in the areas you wish to improve.

Somatic & Body-Based Healing

Many neurodivergent individuals spend years disconnected from their bodies due to masking, chronic stress, trauma, or sensory overwhelm. Our somatic work is designed to rebuild that bridge gently and collaboratively.

We incorporate:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

  • EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques)

  • Nervous-system–regulating somatic practices such as grounding, orienting, pacing, breathwork, and sensory-based stabilization

  • Mind–body awareness training to help you recognize cues, identify boundaries, and build self-intervention skills

These modalities help process trauma at the level where it lives—in the body—while giving you tools to reduce shutdown, overwhelm, looping, and chronic tension. You remain in control at all times, and we follow your window of tolerance with care.

Integrative

Each person has different needs, and those needs can change over time. In therapy, it is no different. Our views and experiences with the world shift, as should the therapeutic approach if it no longer fits. Our therapists consider how you arrive at therapy, the best-suited approach for your personality, as well as your growth over time.

Trauma Informed

A trauma-informed lens guides everything we do. We recognize that trauma can be acute, developmental, systemic, or ongoing—and that your emotional reality is valid. Our therapists prioritize safety, consent, pacing, and nervous system attunement. Through somatic interventions, grounding techniques, and body-based processing, we help you work through difficult memories without overwhelm. You choose the pace; we provide the tools and the container.

Innovative

High-masking autistic and ADHD individuals often face lifelong stressors tied to hiding their needs, managing sensory overload, and navigating environments not built for them. Research shows that chronic masking is linked to anxiety, depression, and burnout. Our approach honors the lived experience of masking while providing pathways toward authenticity, self-compassion, and sustainable unmasking.

We blend evidence-based modalities with holistic and psychodynamic exploration to help you reconnect with your core values, strengths, identity, and desires. Whether you want to unmask privately, selectively, or not at all, our therapists support your autonomy and help you build a life that feels authentically yours.

  • We offer therapy in California, Texas, Florida, Oregon, and Illinois, in addition to coaching throughout the U.S.

Psychological assessments are offered only in California.

  • We will start with a consultation. During the consultation, we will ask questions to get a better sense of what you’re struggling with and whether or not we are a good fit for your needs. After the consultation, we will set up an initial session if both parties decide to move forward.

The beginning of therapy focuses on getting to know you and your sensory sensitivities better and collaboratively defining clear goals you’d like to see from therapy. During sessions, the therapist will support you in unpacking what you choose to work on, connecting to your body, providing accommodations for yourself, challenging cognitive distortions, and promote healthier behaviors. When weather permits, sessions can be done outdoors where mindfulness activities are enhanced.

We request that clients meet with their therapist weekly at a set day and time. This helps you create space to focus on yourself and provides an opportunity for steady progression. Individual sessions rang from 53- 75 minutes long, and family sessions and coaching sessions are one hour.

  • Yes! We currently offer neuro-affirmative assessments for adults only. Please make a free consultation to schedule an appointment.
