We take a holistic approach to therapy, blending evidence-based practices in a neuro-affirmative & psychodynamic framework.
We see therapy as a tool for revealing the internal conflicts that hinder personal growth and fulfillment, and for empowering individuals to make meaning of their experiences.
We do our best to offer sliding scale services. If we are full, you can get started with online-therapy.

Neuro-affirmative psychological assessments
At Awaken Therapy, we believe in celebrating neurodiversity. That's why we offer comprehensive psychological assessments for adults that go beyond diagnosis.
Our approach is neurodiversity-affirmative and collaborative. We partner with you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your unique strengths. Forget stereotypical profiles. Our assessments focus on empowering you, not pathologizing neurodivergent traits like autism and ADHD.
Through a therapeutic lens, we explore your experiences and challenges. This knowledge becomes the foundation for developing strategies to support your well-being.
Ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery? Book a free consultation with Awaken Therapy today to schedule your neuro-affirmative assessment.
Our Approach
Holistic
All aspects of our lives affect our mental health. Our therapists aim to meet the complexity of personal experience through expressive arts therapy, narrative therapy, meditation, somatic exercises, and spirituality. These approaches vary by individual need and pace of therapy.
Evidence-Based
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) are action-oriented approaches that uses logic, psychoeducation, mindfulness, and acceptance as the foundation of its practice. Sometimes life demands our attention and immediacy becomes paramount. Our therapists are skilled in modifying CBT to be inclusive of all neurotypes to promote change in the areas you wish to improve. Motivational interviewing is also implemented as needed.
Integrative
Each person has different needs, and those needs can change over time. In therapy, it is no different. Our views and experiences with the world shift, as should the therapeutic approach if it no longer fits. Our therapists consider how you arrive at therapy, the best-suited approach for your personality, as well as your growth over time.
Trauma Informed
A trauma-informed approach aims to gently guide you through your emotional process. We recognize that your experience is your reality. Although some traumas are continuous, we strive to support you with strategies that can minimize the overwhelm from internal and external sources. Our therapists are trained in somatic techniques to help you process trauma at a pace that works for you.
Innovative
High-masking individuals face a plethora of mental health challenges. Research has shown that masking can result in lifelong battles with anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. Our method takes a neuro-affirmative approach by combining evidence-based therapies to target the symptoms you’d like to improve, while gently unpacking your core values, strengths, and desires through holistic and psychodynamic approaches. Our therapists will support you in unmasking at a pace and method that works best for you and your lifestyle.

We offer neuro-affirmative therapy in California & Florida, coaching throughout the U.S., and adult psychological assessments in California.
-
We will start with a consultation. During the consultation, we will ask questions to get a better sense of what you’re struggling with and whether or not we are a good fit for your needs. After the consultation, we will set up an initial session if both parties decide to move forward.
The beginning of therapy focuses on getting to know you and your sensory sensitivities better and collaboratively defining clear goals you’d like to see from therapy. During sessions, the therapist will support you in unpacking what you choose to work on, connecting to your body, providing accommodations for yourself, challenging cognitive distortions, and promote healthier behaviors. When weather permits, sessions can be done outdoors where mindfulness activities are enhanced.
We request that clients meet with their therapist weekly at a set day and time. This helps you create space to focus on yourself and provides an opportunity for steady progression. Individual sessions rang from 50- 7 minutes long, and family sessions and coaching sessions are one hour.
